Obituary for Jeffrey Gibson

Jeffrey Gibson
Jeffrey David Gibson, 76, died on April 3, 2018 at York Hospital after having suffered a heart attack. Born in York on January 4, 1942, he was the son of the late Ernest and Olivett (Trone) Gibson.

He was a 1959 graduate of William Penn Senior High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed as a Military Policeman in Germany. He retired from York International after working for over thirty years as a machinist and was a member of UAW Local 1872. Jeff had a tremendous affinity for birds and nature, and in his retirement, enjoyed daily walks at either Rudy Park or Rocky Ridge. His gardening skills delighted those that passed by his home, especially when the dahlias bloomed from mid-summer until early fall. He also was a dedicated member of the Silver Sluggers and attended numerous York Revolution games each season since the team’s inception.

Jeffrey is survived by his children, Monique Gibson of Lewes, DE, and Seth Gibson and his wife, Lesley of York; his beloved grandchildren, Jonah and Olivia; and his siblings, Michael, Joseph, Philip, Deborah, Jane, Timothy, Priscilla, and Pamela. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jerry, Steven, and Ernie.

A memorial gathering will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with a viewing from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market St., York.

Memorial contributions can be made to the National Audubon Society, 225 Varick Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10014.

Arrangements by the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, PA 17403.
