Obituary for Vernon Lerew
Vernon Richard Lerew, 88, of York, died on February 5, 2018 at Senior Commons at Powder Mill. He was the husband of the late Marilyn L. (Stead) Lerew.
Born in Dillsburg on May 5, 1929, he was the son of the late Frank R. Lerew, Sr. and the late Clara Mae (Miller) Lerew.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Vernon was the owner of Lerew’s Furniture Store and was also an auctioneer.
He was a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church – Dillsburg and attended auctioneer school in Decatur, IN.
He is survived by two sons, Randy Lerew and his wife, Toni of York and Troy Lerew and his wife, Lori of York, a daughter, Sharon Clayton of Mechanicsburg, seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a sister, Erdean McClure of Dillsburg.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York with Pastor Donna L. Hildebrand officiating. A visitation will be held Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, 450 Chestnut Grove Road, Dillsburg, PA 17019.
