Obituary for Gloria Haldeman
Gloria Dean Haldeman, 86, a resident of Manor Care North died peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday, January 2, 2018. Born in York on April 23, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Flora (Geesey) Wampler. Gloria was the loving wife of the late Clair Walter Haldeman who died April 3, 1969.
Gloria worked as a cashier for the Metropolitan Edison Company. Earlier in her career she was a seamstress for Tioga Fabric. Gloria was a member of Faith United Church of Christ. She was a volunteer Senior Companion with Lutheran Social Services.
Gloria enjoyed traveling, whether taking a cruise, flying to Las Vegas, or riding up to Hollywood Casino in Grantville. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, camping, and playing BINGO. Gloria loved to spend time with family and especially cherished time with her grandchildren.
Gloria is survived by her son, Christopher D. Haldeman and his wife, Crystol A. Haldeman of Columbia, her daughter, Debra A. Fleming and her companion, Herbert P. Webb of Dover, and her sister, Maxine Crone and her husband, Jack of Dover. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer Haldeman-Fuentas and her husband, Jose Fuentas, Daniel Haldeman, Ian Fleming and his wife, Ashley Fleming, and Shane Fleming and his companion, Micki Flaharty, and her great-grandchildren Audrina Fleming, Santiago Fuentas, Catilina Fuentas, and Emmett Fleming.
A funeral service to celebrate Gloria’s life will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York with Pastor Ron Oelrich officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Private interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that Gloria’s memory be honored with a donation in her name to one’s favorite charity.
