Obituary for Percy Lauer Jr.

Percy Lauer Jr.
Percy E. Lauer, Jr., 87, entered into rest on Friday, December 8, 2017 at York Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Joan D. (Gladfelter) Lauer.

Percy was born in York on January 19, 1930, son of the late Percy E., Sr. and Lizzie J. (Seim) Lauer.

He graduated from William Penn Senior High School, Class of 1948. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Percy was a supervisor at St. Regis Paper Co. in Mount Wolf. He retired from Caterpillar as a machinist. He was a member of the UAW and Hawks Club.

Percy is survived by three sons, Dr. Bryan E. Lauer, Steven E. Lauer and his wife, Vickie, and Scott E. Lauer, all of York; five grandchildren, Nathaniel, Ryan, Rachel, Briana, and Rebecca; and three great grandchildren, Desmond, Caroline, and Maddox. He was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin E. Lauer.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, with the Rev. Forrest S. “Bud” Bish officiating. There will be a viewing on Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Greenmount Cemetery with a Flag Folding Ceremony by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 150 Monument Road, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
