Obituary for Albert Raimer
Albert C. Raimer, 85, of Red Lion, died on October 4, 2017 at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy. He was the husband of the late Emma Lou (Beard) Raimer. Born in Adams, MA on May 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Albert Joseph and Louise Ann (Thornton) Raimer.
He was a police officer for the City of York for 16 years. Al served in the Air Force during the Korean War and was a 1950 graduate of William Penn Senior High School.
He was a member of the F.O.P. White Rose Lodge #15, the Shiloh American Legion Post 791 and was a blood donor volunteer for 32 years. He was greatly involved with the Special Olympics of York County for 35 years until 2015, serving as a coach in swimming, track and field, and bowling.
He is survived by a daughter Sheri Lynn Parker and her husband John of Red Lion, son A. Scott Raimer of Loganville, daughter Lori R. Knaub and her husband Andrew S. of Etters; sister Madeline “Gini” Hartlaub of Hanover, brother John Tarman and his wife Christine of Shiloh, sister Kay Slautterback and her husband David of York; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Cory A. Raimer, brother William Raimer and a sister Louise Anne Raimer.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 East Market Street, York. A viewing will be held on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
