Obituary for Paul Dellinger
Paul Eugene Dellinger, 96-1/2 years, entered into rest on Thursday, October 5, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Edna L. (Heindel) Dellinger; married July 20, 1947.
Paul was born in Hellam Twp. on February 5, 1921 and was the son of the late Raymond E. and Annie Catherine (Libhart) Dellinger. He graduated from Hellam H.S. in 1939 and attended several technical schools. Paul retired in 1982 from York International (formerly York Corporation and York Division of Borg Warner) where he worked for 41 years as a Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Service Engineer at the York plant and served as Service Manager at the Decatur, IL plant.
Paul was a member of the 25-year Club at York International, a member of the Hellam VFW Post 7045, and a member of the White Rose Grand Square Dance Club.
Paul was a veteran of World War II serving with the 298th General Hospital in England, France, Belgian and Remagen Bridge as a technical sergeant, laboratory , medical and surgical technician and ward master of the Hospital. The Hospital moved from US to Bristol, England then to Cherbourg, France and to Liege, Belgium and at Remagen Bridge (separating Belgium and Germany).
Paul is survived by three daughters, Christine L. Raffensberger (Larry), Deborah L. Bullock (John) and Pamela A. Dellinger; three grandchildren, Brian Raffensberger (Andrea), Jodi Sammarco (Timothy) and Daniel Raffensberger (Samantha); four step-grandchildren, Zachary Bullock (Jennifer), Gabrielle Bullock, Noelle Otero (Juan), and Jud Bullock (Stephanie); five great-grandchildren; 10 great-step-grandchildren and several nieces/nephews. He was preceded in death by sister, Ruth C. (Dellinger) Knisely.
Viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, 2325 Pine Grove Road, York. Funeral Service will commence at 11:00 AM, with The Rev. Dr. S. Philip Covert officiating. Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery at 2:30 PM.
