Obituary for Dale Diehl

Dale E. Diehl, 79, of York, formerly of Craley, died peacefully, Sunday, October 1, 2017. Born in Everett on February 23, 1938, he was the son of the late William and Irene (Fletcher) Diehl. Dale was the loving husband of the late Elaine E. (Arnold) Diehl; she died March 26, 2001.

Dale was a truck driver, owning and operating his own big rig. He was a lifetime member of Lake Clarke Rescue.

Along with his brother, he was a founding member of D&D Hunting Camp in Everett. Dale enjoyed hunting, boating, motorcycles, snowmobiling, and traveling. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, especially Bill Elliot and Kyle Busch. He loved to attend Central PA Legends races, where he and his friends could always be seen cheering on Dale’s grandson, #53 Billy Diehl.

Dale is survived by his children, Dianna L. Gable, and her husband, Mark of Craley, Jeffry S. Diehl of Wrightsville, and Denise R. Sanchez, and her husband, Michael of Wake Forest, NC; his brother, Donald Diehl, and his wife, Shelda of Dover; his sister, Margie Lippy, and her husband, Don of Dover; his grandchildren, Alissa Gable, Harry Diehl, Bill Diehl, Zachary Widener, and Erin Widener, and his 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, William Lee Diehl, his brother, James Diehl, and his sister, Betty Jane March.

Private services for Dale will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Craley Cemetery.

The family would greatly appreciate contributions in Dale’s memory be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
