Obituary for Willard Kehr
One Month before Willie’s 96th birthday, our time ended peacefully with a man we deeply loved and were honored to have shared in his life. During the end, we still got glimpses of his sense of humor and joy for laughter. His love for travel will surely see him on his final journey.
Willie was a graduate of William Penn High School and went on to serve in the US Army Air Corps in WWII. He retired from Duplex, where he worked as a quality control inspector. Earlier in life he was a delivery salesman for Fishel’s Bakery, where due to his upbeat personality, became known as “Rosie” to all on his sales route. He was a member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church, which is now a part of Forth United Methodist Church. Willie played tennis until the age of 87. He loved flying airplanes, fishing, and playing a variety of sports.
Willie is survived by his wife and best friend of 74 years, Mildred Mae (Kendig) Kehr, his sons: Byron Kehr, and his wife Jessica; Bradley Kehr, and his wife Tatyana Fisk; Darrell Kehr, and his wife April, his daughter, Lyndell Kehr Royer, and her companion Jeffry Kline, his sister, Doris Vogelsong, and his 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Erney C. and Bertha M. (Shue) Kehr, his twin brothers, Harvey and Clayton Kehr, and his brother Christian Kehr and his sisters, Mary Hoffman; Gladys Smith; and his twin sister, Louise Staley.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Hospice and Community Care, for their wonderful care and assistance.
