Obituary for Doris Whorl

Doris Whorl
Doris Jean Whorl, 85, of Emigsville died Thursday, May 4, 2017 at her residence. She was the wife of Jacques “Jack” R. Whorl, I.

Born September 6, 1931 in York, she was the daughter of the late Mabel (Hayes) and Robert Wolfgang, I.

Doris was a 1949 graduate of North York High School. She was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir. She was an avid gardener and was involved with Meals on Wheels and the Soup Kitchen.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her 3 daughters, Jill Whorl of York, Jolie Loring of York and Janel and her husband, Themis Sacarellos of York; her 10 grandchildren, Jackson, Elijah, Jillian, and Holden Loring and Okles, Mackie, Leo, Poppi, Sevi, and Arabella Sacarellos; and her brother, Robert Wolfgang, II. She was preceded in death by her son, Jacques Whorl, II and her 2 sisters, Nancy Wolfgang and Gloria Brenneman.

Funeral services will be held on Doris and Jack’s 64th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah United Methodist Church, 1300 North Beaver Street, York, PA 17404 with Pastor Robert A. Vizthum and Rev. Owen Walter officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Messiah United Methodist Church, 1300 North Beaver Street, York, PA 17404.
